Ernie Mellegers studied History of Art at Leiden University. He wrote his thesis on the influence of the car on the French architect Le Corbusier. He lectures at a variety of universities, schools, academies and occasions on a wide range of subjects related to architecture, urbanism, typology and theory of art.
The focus of his research and publications has remained the influence of the machine, especially the car, on modern architecture and urbanism. Passionate about the subject, he is known for his intensive lectures, exploring a vast knowledge [and relating the previously unrelated], not necessarily meant to be remembered in detail, but to paint the picture and to ‘spark your thoughts’.
